About Jamie

Jamie Wheeler is a passionate photographer with a soft spot for children and a flair for unique photographic prospective.  In 2003, she opened Pixels To Portraits in order to follow her dreams of turning her love for photography into her life.  Five years later, she is lucky enough to still be living the dream.  

Jamie is a reserved perfectionist who will always enjoy studying the art of photography and graphic arts.  She holds a B.A. in Fine Arts and continually completes additional course work in her field.  Her talent pairs traditionally strong portraiture with cutting edge graphic design and the results pack a remarkable impact for clients.

Jamie’s artistic roots are bred from a family of fine artisans.  Jamie’s father, Byron, is an award-winning sculptor, who is primarily known for his large-scale wood carvings.  Additionally he works as a potter, a muralist and a graphic artist.  Jamie’s family also boasts talented weavers, quilters, sketch artists and painters.

Jamie began her artistic career while in high school where she flirted with different mediums.  Soon after, close friends began commissioning Jamie to paint children’s murals.  The murals became a source of inspiration throughout Jamie’s college career as numerous opportunities to expand her artistic nature came via referrals.  After graduation, Jamie worked as a graphic artist where she guided clients through corporate identity processes, advertising campaigns and print media.

After months of preparation, Jamie took the plunge of opening her own studio in 2003.  In order to make ends meet, she took on a second job as a waitress during the first year the studio was open.  As her client base grew, she was able to focus full-time on her studio.  The rest, the say, is history…

The future, however, is what Jamie is fixated on now.  Pixels To Portraits has turned into a hotspot for senior portraits, children’s portraiture, wedding photography and more.  Jamie constantly updates her portfolio of ideas and creates new and exciting images for her clients.    

Jamie and her husband Ryan are the proud parents of a beautiful one-year-old girl.    Additionally, Jamie is a proud aunt of seven, and we have lost count of the cousins now. Some of her most special models are close relatives.
